Undisturbed's unique approach to mead
Mead offers the greatest variety of all alcohol categories. Think about how many different honey flavours there are - then multiply that by the number of fruits and spices, and you'll start to get close to the vast range that mead can offer.
New Zealand mead making is still in its relative infancy, commercially at least. As it stands today, Undisturbed is the only meadery in the world (that we know of) primarily focused on bringing forth the flavour of Aotearoa flora.
Our core range of Mānuka Mead, Kānuka Mead, and Forest Mead are some of the only single-origin meads in New Zealand. None of them add additional flavours or fruits, or mix honey varieties. Each is made from a single ingredient - honey - mixed with water and fermented to just the right sweetness and ABV.
Mānuka Special Reserve takes this concept to the next level by using pure monofloral mānuka honey.
Our seasonal release for summer 25/26 carried this approach forward with another single-origin mead, this time focused on place. Marlborough Summer Mead was fermented from bush honey sourced from the Marlborough Sounds. Customers said it smelled just like the Marlborough bush - because that was its essence, and its everything.
Undisturbed does explore flavours beyond the honey, as seen in the very popular Rhubarb Mead, and in the upcoming winter release of Mulled Mānuka Mead, which takes fermented mānuka honey from New Zealand and adds warming spices.
However, at its core, Undisturbed exists to connect people with nature - and with the land and flora that give us life.
